New 5 million gallon tank
NMSU's water system is comprised of four fresh water wells that supply water to the new 5 million gallon tank by the golf course. The system is monitored daily for proper chlorine levels to ensure the community has safe drinking water. Security measures have be placed on NMSU's water system to provide protection against contamination. The fire protection water for campus buildings is also supplied by our system.
The OFS Water Technicians test and repair fire hydrants throughout campus to ensure proper operation in the event of an emergency. The tank level and well pumps are monitored 24 hour per day from the Central Plant via the Energy Management & Control System (EMCS).
